Reworked v.1

Reworked v.1's design began as an exploration in how we currently consume large amounts of information. Essentially, the design combines a magazine or newspaper-like experience with a responsive web design approach. By dissecting the sample record in its current state, the pertinent pieces of the record were surfaced and the entire record was given a hierarchical structure.

The first two pages primarily focuses on assigning hierarchical roles. Information like name, guardian and other administrative data are given a subdued importance while more critical information like allergies and medications are surfaced to as close to the top of the record as possible. Another piece of information that often gets overlooked is the Plan of Care section and this design surfaces that section so that the patient can quickly glance at their record and know when they need to be in next.

The historical data presents itself next. Initially, a timeline-like approach combining all of the sections was explored but became quite unintuitive very quickly. What resulted was a linear, sectioned timeline. The sections tell a story and as you begin to read each section so that connections within the sections can begin to be made for both patients and medical professionals.

The lab report in v.1 displays the results using blocks of colors, a circular indicator and contextual data. The combination of all three create a more digestible report and allows both patient and medical professional to quickly draw insights from the data.

Reworked v.1's entire design was built with scalability and flexibility in mind. It is very lightweight and works well as a PDF that can be sent to a patient, a stand-alone website or on the mobile web by using responsive design.

Overall, Reworked v.1 uses typography, a grid, and color to create a hierarchy so that the record is better understood whether it's the patient, medical professional or a family member.

Please note that the difference between Reworked v.1, v.2, and v.3 are the lab report sections. The designs are otherwise identical.
