If there's anyone who needs readable, useable information from patients, it's an Emergency Physician.

Our patients are strangers to us, and often confused, intoxicated, or comatose and can't tell us much about their medical problems. We are the masters of data mining a medical record, sleuthing, and making educated guesses.

I'm a full-time Emergency Physician who's also passionate about design and its impact on information and health care. I've tried to take a stale, plain-text set of data and make it patient friendly (since health literacy is an issue among patients) and provide a simple interface to help patients better understand their health and take better care of it.

We've got to develop tools like this to help us manage our aging population and our increasingly complex (and sadly, disorganized) health care system, and this competition seems like a great place to start!
